We couldn't talk about activities around the inn without mentioning one of our proudest local gems. The Le Beauchemin canoe-kayak circuit winds along the Etchemin River right in Saint-Léon-de-Standon — a mixed 23.5 km route. A lively river, authentic countryside scenery and fresh water flowing gently between the Appalachian hills. Pure wilderness — starting literally at the edge of the village.
What you will love
- 23.5 km of river to explore at your own pace — right in the heart of the village, with mountain scenery rich in biodiversity, the Etchemin River takes you through a natural corridor that very few visitors ever discover. A true local secret!
- Routes for all levels — the circuit is marked by difficulty: very easy flat water, Class 1 rapids (ideal for beginners) and Class 2 (intermediate). Everyone finds their own rhythm and their own dose of thrills
- A complete fleet for rent on site — 8 single kayaks, 1 double kayak, 1 double kayak adapted for people with reduced mobility, 7 canoes, 7 paddleboards, and even a pump to inflate SUPs. Life jackets and bailers included
- Accessible — the adapted double kayak for people with reduced mobility is a rare and valuable provision. Everyone can experience the river
- Free if you bring your own watercraft — the boat launch is free for those arriving with their own canoes or kayaks. A generous welcome that perfectly reflects the spirit of Saint-Léon
- A brand-new dock this season — new facilities have been built for the 2026 season
- A circuit run by and for the community — under the new management of the Corporation de développement socio-économique de Saint-Léon-de-Standon, this circuit is a local project the village takes pride in — and rightfully so
